Summer Slow Down: Dolls, Teddy Bears & Antique Cycles

Historic Sauder Village Event August 4 & 5

Looking for a sweet time with family as the summer nears its end? Take a look at this northern Ohio Doll Show and Antique Bike Event Aug. 4-5 at the Historic Sauder Village. 

Doll lovers from throughout the Midwest will be gathering in Archbold, Ohio, for the 35thAnnual Doll & Teddy Bear Show and Sale as well as the popular Antique Bicycle Event. Doll and teddy bear exhibitors, a doll lecture, doll appraisals, special activities for children, antique bicycles and many unique experiences in the Historic Village will give your family plenty of fun-filled, memory-making experiences.

The Ann Arbor Doll Collectors Club will be offering a free craft activity for children as well as a Doll Photo Booth. Children are encouraged to bring their favorite doll to “dress up” and pose their doll for a picture! A variety of doll-themed activities are also taking place in the Historic Village. Throughout the day on Saturday, Aug. 4, children will make yarn dolls, clothespin dolls, wooden bead dolls and popsicle-stick ballerina dolls!

Founder’s Hall will be filled with vendors showcasing their treasured dolls and bears. Also, available will be vintage toys, accessories, supplies, artist reproductions, clothing, doll furniture, books and patterns.

A doll lecture will be held on Saturday evening during the event presented by special guest Cindy McGuire at the Barn Restaurant. To register call Sauder Village at 800-590-9755 or visit www.saudervillage.org.

As a great bonus to the weekend, the Ohio Wheelmen’s 22ndRegional Meet at Sauder Village will be keeping alive the heritage of American cycling as they promote the restoration and riding of early cycles- 1918 and earlier. More than 50 antique bikes will be on display on the Village Green and a parade will take place each afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Doll Show and Sale runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 and from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5. There is a “Show-Only” admission of $8 to be purchased in Founder’s Hall.

Historic Sauder Village is open Tuesday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and each Sunday afternoon from noon-4 p.m. The Historic Village is closed on Mondays, except holidays. Admission is $17 for adults and $11 for students ages 6-16. Discounts are available for senior, military and AAA and members are always free. Children 16 and under are free every Sunday this season!
