Trail System Expanding

By Emily Schloss July 12, 2018

Would your family enjoy an additional 206 miles of hiking and biking trails locally?

Officials in Harrison County, Ohio, are in the planning stages to use its oil and gas economic boost to offer the area a six-lake loop trail.

Three lakes in Harrison County – Tappan, Clendening and Piedmont – would tie into surrounding areas in Belmont, Carroll, Guernsey, Jefferson and Tuscarawas Counties allowing for trail connections to the Ohio & Erie Canal towpath trail and the Allegheny Passage through trails in Wheeling and Pittsburgh.

A public meeting is scheduled on the Harrison County Trail plan on July 18 at the Scio Fire House. Definitely exciting for our local families!

Our area also celebrated the groundbreaking earlier this week for the Wellsburg-Brilliant bridge, which will include a bike trail for even more recreational assets. The bridge should be functional by 2021.
