The Ohio Department of Agriculture is letting kids know that ag is cool by offering a fantastic art contest opportunity and free entry to the Ohio State Fair!
Current Ohio fourth graders for the 2017-2018 academic year can gain free entry any one day to the Ohio State Fair by presenting their report card at the entry gate. Even better, a chaperone is also admitted free. Plus, participants can win a $500 scholarship by writing an essay about what they learned.
Your school-aged children, K-12, can enter a prize-winning contest and trip to be recognized at the Ohio State Fair by sharing why agriculture is cool in the competition, “Ag is Cool!” Creative Expression Contest. Entries are due by June 5 to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
Children enrolled or home schooled in Ohio during the 2017-18 academic year are eligible for entry. Entrants are asked to show their personal interpretation of why Ohio agriculture is cool for a chance to win.
Catergories
Entries to “Ag is Cool!” can include painting, drawing, photograph, or an original video. One winner from each age group and category will be chosen.
Grades K-2: Photography, Drawing or Painting
Grades 3-5: Video, Photography, Drawing or Painting
Grades 6-8: Video, Photography, Drawing or Painting
Grades 9-12: Video, Photography, Drawing or Painting
Judging
Judges will be looking at entrant’s visual representation of agriculture reflective of the 21stcentury, use of Ohio images, creativity and quality of work. Judges will consist of a panel including representatives from the Office of Gov. John Kasich, Ohio Department of Agriculture, Ohio State Fair and professionals in the category areas.
The governor’s office will honor the “Ag is Cool!” winners of the art contest at the Ohio State Fair July 25, 2018.
